Macro Flower Photography and Meanings

Sweet Williams flowers are at the center of many romantic legends. One such legend is steeped in the poetry of the English writer John Gay, who wrote, Sweet Williams Farewell to black-eyed Susan: A Ballad. In this piece of poetry, both the sweet William and the black-eyed Susan were depicted as real people sweet William as a sailor, and the black-eyed Susan as his beloved, who must part from him. The story tells of the two meeting, then having to separate again sweet William assuring his love and fidelity all the while. Aside from having some artistic acclaim, sweet Williams flowers are also thought to be very useful in the culinary arts. These blossoms, which have a mild, clove-like taste, are mostly used as garnishes for cakes, pastries and drinks; however, they are also known to add a unique dash of flavor to salads, floral liquors, jellies and butters, as well as herbal tea.

wild flower name-

Dahlia’s are spicy flowers, and their meanings range from a sign of warning, to change, to travel, to even a portent of betrayal. The varied symbolic meanings of the dahlia make this flower a wild card. Give to that unique, eclectic person whom you wish to compliment his/her wild side. Combine them with slender flowers like irises or tulips for a striking visual display as well as a combined symbolic message that says “temper your adventures with a kind heart.”

Origninal Dahlia Name-

This is a capture of rain drops reflections on The Bachelor Button Flower. There is no secret there and it has nothing to do with processing either. Each droplet reflects its surroundings, so in each of them you can find many different reflections by simply changing the angle you look at it.A water drop is a spherical mirror which shows the reflective image inverted compared to the object (in this case).
To capture reflections in a raindrop you have to look for it unless you have serious knowledge of geometric optics.

If you don’t know the Bachelor Button by this name, you aren’t the only one. Probably, you know it by one of these names: Basketflower, Bluebottle, Hurtsickle, and Cornflower. Sometimes, this flower is known as the Boutonniere flower. But, all of these names will connect you to the same flower, which is the Bachelor Button. There is a story behind this flower, of course with a name like that. You will see that bachelors wore this flower if they liked someone and wanted to date them. The longer the flower stayed alive and the longer they wore it, it showed how strong their feelings were for that person.

Flood Waters Hits Small Historical Town In Kimmswick Missouri and other Local Towns

Kimmswick bridges marker name-

Well we all know that this year we have  highly unusual weather all over the united states. From Tornadoes in Oklahoma to late snow fall in Vermont followed by flooding in the Midwest.

The flooding is very close to my heart as well as my home. So many small towns around and outside of St. Louis, Missouri . One that hurts my heart is Historical Kimmswick which has been around since late 1700′s , but founded by   Theodore Kimm in 1859. A successful St. Louis dry goods merchant, Mr. Kimm moved to Jefferson County in 1850 and purchased a large tact of land, extending West and crossing what is now Highway 61-67.  http://visitkimmswick.com/shopping. This town also has  Ride On St. Louis (ROSL) . It is an Equine-Assisted Activities and Therapies (EAAT) center serving disabled children, adults and the at-risk youth of the greater St. Louis metropolitan area. ROSL uses the unique movement of the horse and emotional bond created between horse and rider to gain physical, mental, emotional and spiritual improvements in the lives of those we serve. It also serves the Wounded Warriors Project as well. http://rideonstl.org/,So you see this is why it is so close to my heart.

To My dismay I founded that they were lacking in help .Sometimes Jefferson County Missouri is forgotten . They always focus on the bigger cities that have had devastation. Well I think this is one town that need help!! So I will be sending this article and photos to local newspapers, in hope that we can get more . It is suppose to rain again in the next few days and the The Flood Warning continues for the Mississippi River at St. Louis * until further notice.* At 11:30 am Tuesday the stage was 40.2 feet. * Flood stage is 30.0 feet. * Forecast… the river crested around 40.5 feet late this morning and is forecast to fall to near 38.5 feet Thursday morning. So please NO MORE Rain!!. Officials: Entire town of Kimmswick will flood if levee breaks; volunteers needed

Here is a Picture of the Windsor Harbor Bridges before the flood.

Old Chevy Truck 1950′s

I just love this vintage trucks. Hope you ENJOY! as much as I have.

FUN FACTS :

The 1950 model year brought about the end of the postwar seller’s market. Now, suddenly, America‘s insatiable appetite for anything on wheels came to an abrupt halt. Buyers were starting to pick and choose again (though they would make 1950 a record-setting year for car and truck purchases, spurred on to some degree by the start of war in Korea). Trucks had sold well during the previous four years, and Chevrolet had topped the market; total Chevy truck registrations had reached 345,519 by ’49. But with buyers now in control, Detroit recognized that the sales race was about to heat up.
Even so, not much changed on 1950 Chevrolet trucks. Horsepower and torque did increase by two on the Thrift-Master, to 92 horsepower at 3,400 rpm and 176 pound-feet at 1,000-2,000 rpm, thanks mainly to a revised Rochester carburetor and slightly bigger exhaust valves. Tubular rear shocks became standard, and the three-quarter-ton pickup now used eight-leaf front springs.

Mom and Baby Goslings

I am writing this in regards to Photography. I am a photographer and sell on line as well. I see so many changes in how people are manipulating the most beautiful things in the world . Nature! I am what you call a Naturalist! I like it that way. I might not sell as many photos as the ones that are manipulated or as fancy as some that use expensive programs, but I bring out the true meaning of Natural in Nature. I like to share the things that  mean the  most to me. That would be  animals of any sort ,wildlife and beautiful landscapes.Perhaps I am a believer in the art of photography rather than the art of images.

So, Here are some captures of Geese and babies that I have been watching for the last couple of weeks. The are growing up so fast!  Hope you enjoy!! and Love :) Thanks for Looking!

Baby Duck Orginals Name-

Also here are some Geese Facts :)

A goose is a medium to large sized bird found in Europe, Asia and North America. There are around 29 known species of geese around the world including Canadian geese and Snowy geese.Geese mate and build their nests in order to raise their baby geese (known as goslings) in the north during the warmer summer months and the geese then migrate south in the winter to the warmer climates when the baby geese are strong enough to fly.

BeFunky_DUCKS name.jpg

Geese tend to have the same mating partners for their entire lives, and if not all of it then most of it. The bond between male and female geese partners is very strong and they will often spend most of their time together with both the male goose and the female goose building the nest and raising their young.Geese are omnivorous birds but mainly feed on insects, grubs, small fish and plankton in the water. Geese spend a great deal of time on the water and have special adaptations such as webbed feet which make their aquatic life easier.

Ducks 2-1236ducks name

Geese have a number of natural predators although, due to the size and strength of a goose, predatory animals don’t always have an easy time if they fancy goose for dinner. The main predators of the goose are foxes, wild dogs, raccoons and birds that predominately prey on the goose eggs and newborn baby geese. Humans are among one of the most common predators of geese, as geese are hunted all around the world for their meat and feathers.

DSC_1206 ducks name

Geese are strong and hardy birds and are known to get to old ages, even in the wild. The average lifespan of a goose is between 20 and 30 years but a number of geese individuals have been known to live for much longer.Geese are known to have extremely strong wings as they migrate long distances every year to the warmer climates. Due to the fact that the wingspan of a goose is so large (normally one and half times the size of the goose’s body), and the wings of the goose are so strong, a goose is known to be able to inflict severe damage to humans should it become threatened or annoyed!

DSC_1749 bbay ducks

Not only do geese flap their wings to intimidate unwanted company, but they are also known to make a loud hissing noise. If these methods of defence fail, it is not uncommon for a goose to simply charge at the intruder hissing and flapping it’s wings all at the same time.

My Cardinal Bird Captures

The male Northern Cardinal is perhaps responsible for getting more people to open up a field guide than any other bird. They’re a perfect combination of familiarity, conspicuousness, and style: a shade of red you can’t take your eyes off. Even the brown females sport a sharp crest and warm red accents. Cardinals dont migrate and they dont molt into a dull plumage, so theyre still breathtaking in winters snowy backyards. In summer, their sweet whistles are one of the first sounds of the morning.
